About Pastor Darrin Mariott

Pastor Darrin Mariott put his faith in Christ at age 21. Darrin, who had not been raised in a Christian home, considered himself agnostic until the witness of a close friend caused him to throughly investigate spiritual matters and begin reading the Bible.

He grew slowly and steadily in the faith, under the guidance of a mentor at church. This mentor eventually encouraged Darrin to lead a Bible study, where he discovered his teaching gift and his passion for building up the Body of Christ.  Darrin met his wife and partner in ministry Tamra at a West Los Angeles church called The Hiding Place. They were married in January of 1994. When his calling to the ministry became apparent, he enrolled at Trinity Theological Seminary, where he earned his M.A. in Pastoral Ministry in 1998.

At the time of his graduation, Darrin was already a part-time staff member at Metro Calvary Chapel in Santa Monica. He became a full-time Assistant Pastor there in March of 1998, serving in both administrative and teaching capacities.  In September 2002, Darrin, Tamra, and a team of leaders felt led to plant Sonrise Westside Community Church in Venice.  At that time, Darrin also enrolled at Biola University. He graduated in December 2006 with an M.A. in Christian Apologetics.

In addition to being in full-time ministry, Darrin is a full-time husband to Tamra, and full-time dad to his son Connor and daughter Mackinley.  The family resides in Venice, CA.
